Here’s your guide to shopping spring trends in the winter sales… believe it or not, it can be done!

Metallics:
A treasure trove of gold, silver and bronze designs have made the high street sparkle this festive season, but it’s not too late to add some glitz to your wardrobe. Buy metallics now and you’re guaranteed to be wearing them well past New Year’s Eve – you only have to take a look at Giles Deacon’s collection for S/S’12 for proof; it’s an absolute symphony in silver. If you’re after a bargain, try the Topshop sale, where this metallic jacket has been reduced from £65 – £20. Now that’s the type of saving that earns you a gold medal!

The Roaring ’20s:
Filming hasn’t even finished, but the fashion industry is eagerly anticipating Baz Luhrmann’s adaptation of The Great Gatsby. Ralph Lauren’s S/S ’12 collection is full to the brim with sartorial references to the Jazz Age, from dropped waists to cloche hats. Channel the demure Daisy look with a pretty pink chiffon dress from Wallis, reduced from £65 to just £15! The pastel shades are spot on trend for Spring/Summer. Look out for saccharine shades of candyfloss, lemon-drop, spearmint and palma violet.

Colour Pop Rain Macs:
Let’s face it, living in London we’ve still got months of cold and rain ahead, so there will be plenty of opportunities to wear a new Mac. Burberry are undeniably the masters of the Mac, but have moved away from the classic beige design for S/S’12 – showing a collection of rich tones from green to purple. Hobbs is the place to go for a style steal, with this olive green mac reduced from £119 – £59, so you can save money for a rainy day.

Nude shoes are a girl’s secret weapon for longer looking legs. Invest in this pair from Aldo whilst they are reduced from £70 – £38.49.

Black lace bargain beauties by Beatrix Ong? Yes please! These ‘Naida’ shoes could be yours for £195 – that’s a saving of £130.

Step our in studded suede this season. These Marc by Marc Jacobs shoes are an absolute Style Steal, reduced from £320 – £160 at Matches.

These polka dot ‘Ash’ courts from Kurt Geiger are spot on trend, and they have been reduced from £75 – £50.

You really will be spoilt for choice at the Kurt Geiger sale! The peep-toe ‘Ash’ courts also come in gold glitter. Seeing as they’re reduced from £80 – £55, it’s the perfect excuse to buy both styles.
