There’s Something About Mary

At SalesGossip we are very pleased to introduce our new Editorial Intern, Mary Adeniyi. Mary, who is the blogger behind Pop Goes Fashion, will be with us for the next 3 months. Time to get to know her a bit better and have a good old chin wag about shopping, sales and style crushes…

I am a 20-something-year-old graduate who studied MA magazine journalism at Kingston University. Previous to this I did a degree in fashion journalism in UCA Epsom. Before I went to uni, I was never into fashion, never read any fashion magazines or knew what Fashion Week was! But fast forward four years and I love all things fashion, from blogging, street style and of course shopping. There’s nothing like getting discounts while getting retail therapy and SalesGossip is the perfect place to find the latest in sales – especially in London where there’s a variety of stores to choose from so you’re spoilt for choice.

What was your last purchase in the sales? Two weeks ago, I went into H&M in Oxford Street during Fashion’s Night Out and found a lovely pink and white lace shift dress reduced from £20 to £10. I tried it on in the store and it fitted perfectly.

Tell us about the best bargain you have ever found? A few years ago I got a lovely purple jumper from New Look reduced from £16 to £1.

If you could only shop in one high street store, which would you choose and why? If I could only shop in one high street store it would be River Island because their designs are so unusual and made to perfection. There’s something for everyone, from girly to edgy.

Who are your favourite designers? My favourite designers would have to be Mary Katrantzou and Holly Fulton for their amazing prints and Dolce and Gabbana for their fashion-forward style and craftsmanship.

Who is your style crush? My style crush would have to be Wendy Nguyen from Wendy’s Lookbook. She knows exactly what looks good for her body shape and her sense of style is to perfection.

Who would be your dream shopping companion? A purse full of unlimited cash and assistants to carry my shopping bags for me.

Which trends for A/W ’12 will you be shopping for? I will be shopping for studs, dogtooth and peplums.

Have you ever had an embarrassing moment whilst out shopping you’d like to share with us? I don’t think I’ve had any embarrassing moments while shopping. But it may happen soon!

What would you love to find with 75% off? I would love to find an amazing pair of winter boots from River Island or Dorothy Perkins.

What would be your number one tip for successful sales shopping? Get there early and wear a cross body bag so that you have your hands free to get the best stuff before anyone else!

Thanks Mary! Welcome to Team SG!
