TSL Recommends

TGI Friday! The weekend is finally in sight and it’s time to start making exciting plans – but hold on just a sec. Before you call all your mates, make sure you’ve read the latest recommendations from Twenty Something London. Whether you choose to head for a walk on the heath followed by a hot coffee in Hampstead, or start a big night out with cocktails in Shoreditch, this weekend’s guaranteed to be a good one…

This week has been absolutely manic but no doubt I’m always excited when I get to write my favourite Sales Gossip column. This time round I’ve gone for a geographical, all-inclusive approach so that no matter which side of London you’re from or visiting you’ll have a trustworthy TSL recommendation.

NORTH: Coffee Cup, Hampstead

Open since 1954 The Coffee Cup has become part of the furniture of the very pretty Hampstead high-street. One of the things that makes this place is the late opening times. Seeing as it closes at midnight, for locals in the going out mood but not wanting to drink or have a full-out meal heading here is a nice option. For the weekend, when it gets extremely busy, a reasonably priced lunch and a walk on the Heath nearby is a great way to spend the day.

EAST: Lounge Bohemia, Shoreditch

When I’m in East London and have a catch-up date with a friend who I haven’t seen in ages, I head to Lounge Bohemia. Aside from the superb cocktails it’s the novelty of knowing such a sophisticated place is positioned between a fast-food joint and a newsagent that does the trick. What’s more – Paul the owner is a legend.

SOUTH: Seven at Brixton, Brixton

Liam and Jonny, the guys that run this bar-restaurant-gallery, are the people who make this place special. They do amazing cocktails for only £5 and have their trademark pinxto (Basque tapas) – yummy nosh on sticks for £2 a pop – that get everyone coming here before a night out. It’s such a shame they’re not open for longer!

WEST: Montgomery Place, Notting Hill

When in need of swanky bar for the evening or a place for a few drinks before a night out Montgomery Place in Notting Hill is a particular favourite. They serve very good cocktails with a sociable atmosphere. Don’t miss their sharing bowls.

CENTRAL: Scandinavian Kitchen, Oxford Circus

When in town I’m always making trips to Scandinavian Kitchen. The super friendly staff and Scandinavian food including freshly made open sandwiches and hotdogs with all the trimmings make for a great lunch. There’s also a nice difference between the busy upstairs and the more quiet and secluded downstairs meaning that no matter which mood you’re in Scandi is always a good bet.

P.S. KNOW MORE Festival: Sun, 10th Feb, £10 tickets

This week TSL launched ticket sales to it’s first all-day festival in under 4 weeks time. Our ‘Inspired London’ art competition received over 280 submissions will be judged to enter the festival’s art showcase. Grab your tickets here and get involved. A silent art auction, live music, FREE drinks tastings, guest DJs, street food, signature cocktails (£4 only) & more are all waiting for you!
