Meet the Team: Lea Stam

The latest member of Team SG to spill the beans about their shopping habits is our new editorial intern, Lea Stam. It’s time to talk Chloe sample sales and shopping with Karl Lagerfeld…

I started to take fashion seriously when I worked in Paris as a translator and journalist’s assistant. Watching countless shows you really get an understanding and appreciation of the huge amount of work that people in the industry put in and it was the ambitious, buzzy environment that I really loved. Obviously it’s beautiful and extravagant too, that helps.

What was your last purchase in the sales?

I bought a few pairs of jeans from rag&bone. I’ve all but abandoned my other pairs of jeans because these just fit so well.

Tell us about the best bargain you have ever found?

I went to a Chloe sample sale in Paris where I got a dusty pink spring coat for €250 down from something ridiculous like €900. At the time I was a student and so it was still a big spend but now looking back I really regret not buying more at that sale!

If you could only shop in only one store, which would you choose and why?

If I could I would choose Celine, but until I make it big I’ll stick to Zara. Its got the best interpretations of catwalk fashion at the best prices.

Who are your favourite designers?

Celine, Alexander Wang, Acne, Helmut Lang and Isabel Marant are my favourites right now. If ever I had a ball to go to then it would be dreamy to have a beautiful Dior gown to wear.

Who is your style icon?

I don’t have a one in particular. I generally like Miranda Kerr’s everyday style, Marion Cotillard’s red carpet looks and Chloe Sevigny’s off beat weirdness.

Who would be your dream shopping companion?

I would love to go shopping with Uncle Karl (Lagerfeld). I think he would give his frank opinion and make sure you look amazing. That man has something of a Midas touch.

Which winter trends are you shopping for?

When it comes to winter dressing comfort and warmth always win over fashion, but I’ve really liked the trend for jewel colours. I usually wear a lot of black so my new pair of aubergine jeans (from rag&bone) are an easy way to break that habit.

Have you ever had an embarrassing moment whilst out shopping you’d like to share with us?

Not yet, perhaps I’m due one soon. Watch this space…

What would you love to find with 75% off?

Anything from Celine.

What would be your number one tip for successful sales shopping?

It’s not successful if you don’t end up wearing what you’ve bought. Even if it’s £10 that’s £10 wasted. And if you hate crowds then do all your sale shopping online!

Welcome to SalesGossip Lea! We’ll keep you posted on any sales from Celine.
